Walking in His Garden
The Testimony of Jim Eagan
I feel that I have been walking in God’s
garden right here at Moore Street
Tabernacle, and I am still walking.  I
think about the many people here in this
church who our Father has planted.
Some were planted many years ago;
some were planted with the help of the
Holy Spirit, or by the help of their
parents; some were planted only
recently, (i.e., just a few years or even
a few months ago).  It is a good garden
because it is watered by these people
and you can feel the Christian Spirit on
a continual basis.
On October 17, 2001, I walked down the center of this church and was saved, or born
again.  However, prior to that time, I had always thought of myself as a “good man.”  I had
News” Bible.  I still have this flexible covered Bible today and I use it almost every morning
when I read Our Daily Bread devotional.  I usually read this in the early mornings –
sometimes around 5 or 6am, for I like to get up early.

Soon after purchasing this Bible, I became a member of the Sunday school class at Moore
Street and bought a KJV Bible because that’s what most people at the church used.  I also
found by reading the monthly ODB devotional that I was growing in my knowledge of Jesus
and I found that, just being a “good man,” I would not get to my new home after I passed
away.  This was very evident to me as I read the Gospel of John.  It was after reading this
Gospel that I knew that I was wrong to think, or even believe that God would excuse me
and allow me to enter Heaven.  I had been wrong for quite some time and although I did not
have a “remarkable” change as to what I have heard others tell about, I did experience a
slow change – but, it came, and I am glad that it did.

I will mention something else to you.  Two or three months ago, I had gone to bed and I had
taken a printed copy of Stephanie Adams’ testimony with me and I wanted to read it again
because I really felt something when I had read it earlier.  I wondered and I thought about
her testimony and how she and her husband Michael had persisted through prayer to
determine that they had placed the birth of their daughter Isabella in the hands of God.  I am
so thankful that I, again, had felt the Holy Spirit come to me.  I knew it was the Holy Spirit
because I felt it in my heart and mind.  Dr. R.T. Kendall had expressed this joy as “internal
joy” and said that it was the best joy that anyone could have.  It was during this night that I
had dreamed about my wife coming to me and telling me that she wanted me to bring her
Bible with me when I came to join her.  I think about this experience quite often and when
Stephanie, Michael, and Isabella are in church I am greatly pleased to see them and to thank
God for the mercy and grace that He granted them.

I have rambled on and on, but I have much more to tell you about myself and my walk in
His garden.  I often think about all the people here at Moore Street Tabernacle, the not so
young ones and the young ones who have just recently been planted.  I use the things that I
do – and I do not do much at this church, but I do water those who have been planted by
God in my own way and I am most happy when I do this.  God has been good to me and I
express my most heartfelt “thank you” to my Father almost daily.  Sometimes I feel the
presence of the Holy Spirit and when I do, I pray for his grace and mercy.  Now, it is my
hope that you will find new joy walking in His garden as you grow in grace and knowledge
of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
