The Testimony of Mike Malone
Usually, when I try to testify, I just end up
crying and I can never find the words to
explain what Jesus Christ has done for me.
Sometimes I’m afraid that people will take
my tears as sadness, but you can’t even
imagine the love and happiness that God has
brought into my life.  I will soon be 50 years
old and I still feel like a little boy in Gods
hands, learning about this great love that He
has for even me.  There is no way to tell you
everything, but I will try to tell you the “work
in progress” version, for God is always with
me, showing and teaching me about this gift
of love: To be Christ-like.

First, I was born into the Malone family and hated nearly every minute of it.  There were
12 kids, plus my Mom and Dad.  My Dad, being an alcoholic, drank every day of his
Dad came toward me with his belt.  I reached for a brick and I told him I would kill him
if he came any closer, and I meant it with everything in my heart.  From that moment on,
hate continued to grow in my heart.  Hate for my Dad, hate for being poor, hate for the
way kids at school made fun of the way I talked, and the clothes I wore.  I had a hatred
for everything.

The darkness of hate continued to grow in my heart.  All I wanted was to find a way to
let some of it out, so my ambition in life was to become a “soldier of fortune.”  Darkness
had almost completely taken over my heart.  I went into the Marine Corps to learn how
to kill.  Satan had me believing that would be the way to pay back everyone, including
God, for the life I had.  But, God had a different plan.

While I was in the Marines, I wrote my sister to get an address of a girl, but she ended
up giving me the address of Linda Hensley, my future wife (Can you see God working
yet?).   To make a long story short, God started to turn my entire life around.  My plan
at that time was to get out of the Marines and to re-enlist.  But, at that time, I went to
church to be with Linda and I heard the greatest love story ever told.  “For God so
loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him,
should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

I came and kneeled at the foot of the cross, asked forgiveness of my sins, and felt loved
for the first time in my life.  There is no way for me to explain what it’s like to go from
complete darkness to light, from hate to love, but I do know that I never want to go
back to my old life.  I love the seed of love that is growing in my heart now.  I thank
God for each and every one of you that have watered this seed and have helped me on
my way to my true home, Heaven!

There is so much more that I could say, but I am the least to talk about this great gift.
All I know is love is a tender plant.  We need to treat it kind, never take it for granted,
and we shouldn’t be afraid to give it to someone else.  God has a never ending supply!
So when you see tears in my eyes, please understand what it means to me to be a part
of this loving family, the family of God.

God bless each one of you!
Love & Prayers,
Mike Malone
